Happy Food Day!

And you thought today was just another Monday! Happy Food Day everyone. There aren't many things that I like more than food, so I am definitely all for this day.

Here's what the Food Day website had to say about the scrumptious day:

Food Day's goal is nothing less than to transform the American diet—to inspire a broad movement involving people from every corner of our land who want healthy, affordable food produced in a sustainable, humane way. In other words, we want America to eat real. We want to get Americans cooking real food for their families again. We want fewer people at drive-thrus and bigger crowds at farmers markets. We want to celebrate fresh fruits, vegetables, and healthy whole grains—and to support the local farms and farmers that produce them. We want all Americans—regardless of their age or income or geographic location—to be able to select healthy diets and avoid obesity, heart disease, and other diet-related conditions.
Hail to the Food Day!

Workout

I had my second full-hour Body Pump class today. I decided to go a little crazy and add some weight to my bar bells. I didn't go too crazy, just a half kilo on each side. Today's class went better than Fridays. I definitely did better during the tricep area, though they still felt like they were going to explode.

After Body Pump I stopped by the grocery store to get some supplies for dinner. I thought I would take this time to stock up on some canned pure pumpkin before it runs out before the holidays.

So much pumpkin.

Post-Workout Snack

I saw a recipe for a Pumpkin shake earlier today and it gave me a serious craving. So I made some when I got home.

Pumpkin Shake
  • 1/2 cup canned pumpkin
  • 1/2 cup fat free milk
  • 1/2 cup ice
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp pumpkin pie spice (ground cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and allspice)

Surprisingly enough, it tasted just like pumpkin pie filling, just minus all the sugar, fat, and calories.

Dinner

Mom made some Hearty Winter Veggie Soup.

It was a Martha Stewart recipe, and it was delicious. Such a good thing to put on my plate for Food Day.

I have some apple chips baking in the oven. Can't wait to take them out and put them in my belly!
